What we've been up to...
Rockin' Rock Cakes
Today, the class were off timetable as the time had finally come to make their own rock cakes. Carefully following the recipe using mixing, sieving and rubbing in, the children baked up some delicious treats. They were truly scrumptious and got a big thumbs up from everyone. Have a look at our creations - Yummy!
Colour Run
What a day! The children were buzzing with excitement about the upcoming Colour Run and it did not disappoint. There were smiles all around as they got drenched from head to toe in colour. It was a a massive thumbs up to our first ever Colour Run! Same again next year!
Skipping - Jump rope for Heart Fundraising
Today we got outside and got active for a very worthy cause. We speed bounced, hopped and side-swinged to help raise money for people who need it. The children thoroughly enjoyed getting the afternoon and want will be back out for more!
Amazon Day
Rowling took part in an Amazon Adventure Day. They were able to find out more about the Amazon via Zoom. They enjoyed learning about the climate in the Amazon and the people that like there. They thought about the future of the Amazon and what they would like it to be like. At the end of the Day they were able to create a piece of Art using natural materials.
Disability Sports Morning
The class had a fanastic morning learning all about Disability Sports. They tried out New Age Kurling for the first time and it was a lot harder than it looked.. They were challenged to aim for the target using different parts of the body and had great fun doing so.
Learning about Coasts
Rowling have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about coasts this term. Miss Pearson set teams the challenge of creating their own coasts in a tray. Two different investigations showed how coastal erosion happens and how waves deposit rocks. We followed this up with a heated debate on whether or not to act and protect our coastal towns and villages. Finally, we turned experts by researching parts of the north-east classroom and presenting these to the class. Great work everyone!
The Exploits of Varjak
Varjak Paw was our book of choice and we have done it proud by writing our very own chapters for the book. We've been working hard to add suspense to our stories and shpw how the characters feel. To help us with this, we even pretended to be Varjak around school! I think they're better than the book.
Children's Mental Health Week
Our mental health is vital and exploring the nature around us can be very good for us. Sometime we don't appreciate what is around us and today we took time out to explore the beauty of the nature. We created our own faces using plasticine and added these to the trees in the conservation area. What art can you make when your out and about?
Miles for Smiles
The children took time out today to help the staff on their 'Miles for Smiles' mission. We all did half a mile each around the track to help raise money for new outdoor equipment. Look out for lots of smiles and flying feet in the photos.
World Book Day
It was back for another year and we were sure we weren't going to miss out this time. We celebrated our favourite books and authors by dressing up in some weird and wonderful costumes. Can you tell who they are?
The BIG Performance
The children rounded off their Music lessons this year with their performance of 'Ho Ho Ho'. The children rapped, danced, sung and played their cornets in a spectacular performance. Listen out for it on the end of year celebratory video.
Christmas Lunch
Rowling Class thoroughly enjoyed being together for their lunch in the classroom this year. Thank you to the dinner staff and judging by the clean trays, they went down very well. Dressed in our best Christmas jumpers, we also listened to our favourite Christmas songs.
Fun at the Virtual Pantomime
Although we couldn't make our annual trip to the Panto this year, that didn't stop us enjoying it in the classroom. We were treated to a streamed pantomime where the children could still boo, hiss and cheer their favourite characters. The children also enjoyed lots of treats while watching it thanks to the PTA. Our class critics dubbed it an overwhelming success!
Fit for Life
GoWell visited us today to teach us new ways to get active. We took part in lots of energy filled circuits. Everyone gave it their best and there were some very sore legs the next day.
Harvest Art
We celebrated Harvest as part of our Art Day. We made some rainbows and fireworks using the different coloured donations. We also used polyprinting using patterns of different fruit and veg. A messy day was enjoyed by all.
Brass lessons
Our Year 3's have been learning to play the recorder while the Year 4's have been busy learning to play the cornet. They thoroughly enjoyed their first lesson with My Linley. It honestly sounded great!
European Day of Languages
This afternoon we celebrated European Day of Languages by learning how to hello in 10 different languages. We played dominoes and got active while learning some new languages. Tres bien Rowling class.
Adam Bushnell Visit
Today Adam Bushnell visited the class to share with us some ideas to improve our writing. He brought in lots of artefacts from the Stone Age - including some Stone Age poo! We cam away with lots of ideas about teleporting back in time and wrote some epic stories. Well done everyone.
