Year 6 Design Technology Ambassadors

Year 2 Food and Nutrition 

Year 2 have been tasting different fruits as part of Food and Nutrition in D.T. They were able to peel, segment and chop a range of fruits to make a healthy fruit salad.


Walliams Class worked with designer, Charlotte Pyrah, as part of a project with The Bowes Museum. They watched an online demonstration and then used paint and rollers to design prints as part of The Giant Kindness Quilt Project. 

Restaurant Project - Year 6 

Year 6 set up their very own restaurant as part of their Design Technology project. After visiting a local restaurant, the children were able to watch how Italian dishes are made and were given the opportunity to taste different Italian foods. The children set up their own restaurant in school called Mount Vesauceous and the children invited up to two guests. Each guest was served three delicious courses: bruschetta, spaghetti or quorn bolognaise and tiramisu. A fantastic night was had by all involved.

Intent of the Design and Technology Curriculum

At Coxhoe Primary School we aim to provide children with a DT education that is relevant in our rapidly changing world.  We want to encourage our children to become problem solvers who can work creatively on a shared project. We believe that high-quality DT lessons will inspire children to think independently, innovatively and develop creative, procedural and technical understanding. Our DT curriculum provides children with opportunities to research, represent their ideas, explore and investigate, develop their ideas, make a product and evaluate their work. Children will be exposed to a wide range of media including textiles, food and woodwork; through this, children will develop their skills, vocabulary and resilience.
