Online Safety

Our Personalised Google/Parent Zone Assembly

We were very lucky to have a personalised assembly delivered via Google/Parent Zone where we were able have lots of interaction with the hosts. We learnt lots of different things about how we stay safe online - handy tips that will help us be safe internet users.

How to stay safe during the pandemic

Take a look at the BBC website - Own It - https://www.bbc.com/ownit

Please please remember that whatever you post/say online will count towards your digital footprint - you cannot get rid of it. Therefore, saying mean things (this include inappropriate language) in a WhatsApp group or any other social media site can have huge consequences - DON'T DO IT!

Lots of you have had to spend some extra time at home lately and do some of your work at home. So far, we have been really impressed with your hard work. Don't forget, if you ever get stuck with something online - chat with an adult.

As we move closer to Christmas and rules are changing, I know that many of you are reading information on the internet, but remember, not everything you read is true! I'd like you to think about the following next time you read something online:

Use the SHARE checklist to make sure you’re not contributing to the spread of harmful content:

  • Source - make sure information comes from a trusted source

  • Headline - always read beyond the headline

  • Analyse - check the facts

  • Retouched - does the image or video look as though it has been doctored?

  • Error - look out for bad grammar and spelling

Remember, if you have any concerns, speak to a trusted adult. Stay safe, stay connect!

Miss Marsden

Below you will find a copy of our rules to keep everyone safe online. You should be familiar with this, it is up in every classroom and you should have discussed it with you class. These rules are the rules you agree to before you use any of our computer equipment.

Digital Leaders

This year, we are busy looking at how we can have our digital leaders help us out around school whilst staying safe and in their own bubble. Watch this space because hopefully, we will have some digital leaders very soon!
