Spring Term

What our children in Year 3 and Year 4 children say about curriculum enrichment this term...

In Spring, Year 4 children went on our 2 day residential to Moor House in Houghton le Spring. We took part in crate stacking, leap of faith, archery, camp fire, den building and orienteering. It was really fun because we got to try lots of different activities which were a bit of a challenge. It was amazing and I wanted to stay for 2 nights! (Jacob). I liked all of the activities because I got to learn new things, explore things I haven't done before and face my fears (Charlotte)

In RE we visited two Christian churches in Coxhoe to compare them. We asked lots of questions and looked around for the things we had been learning about in our lessons. I liked that we got to see and learn in real life rather than using pictures and online (Hollie). We gor to learn about how to be a Christian and a Catholic which I relaly liked because I am a Christian. It was lovely becasue we got the chance to show off the stained glass windows we had made (Edy)

Autumn Term

What our children in Year 3 and Year 4 children say about curriculum enrichment this term...

When we visited Beamish, my favourite parts were investigating what happened to James White, who was a miner, going on the tram and performing our Christmas song (Libby). At Beamish, we found out about mines, where the coal came from and looked at the conveyor belt (Charlotte). We got to learn more about miners and we had lots of fun (Omisha).

As part of our local history topic, we interviewed Mr Coils about what it was like to be a miner. We learnt lots of facts about his job (Isaac)

On our Quidditch Day, i enjoyed the competitive games and working together as a team. I would love to have longer time on the broomsticks if we do it again (Violet)
