Autumn Term 2025
What our children have said about enrichment this term...
Rowling Class: Thoughts on Skipping Day:
Summary of what you did : We spent time outside learning how to skip. We used individual skipping ropes and used a large skipping rope in groups. We learnt how to join our friends when skipping and to spin around when our friend is holding the rope. We learnt resilience and kept trying when things are difficult.
What did you like about the visit?: having a teacher who helped us skip but we didn’t need to worry about getting it wrong, having the space to give it a go, there were different sizes of skipping ropes for our height, we were allowed to help each other when we were stuck, I love that we can do it every year and not just once, liked that it was harder than last year which was a good challenge.
What new knowledge have you gained from this experience? It is very fun to get an opportunity to do it and you can learn new skipping things. If you do not know how to skip, this will help you.
Which careers/jobs did you see? Boxers need to skip, Thai boxers., PE teacher., Basketball players, Skipping teacher.
What skills/qualities would you need to do that career/job? Boxers – stamina, energy, strong and fit, PE teacher – loud voice, energetic, organised, patience, fitness and knowledge of sports.
Walliams Class: Thoughts on Harvest Festival Celebration:
Summary of what you did : We performed a harvest song and listened to others perform. We heard stories and prayers and sang together.
What did you like about the visit?: I liked that our families got to watch. It was nice and welcoming. Everything. Year 6 children did a lovely prayer. Everybody cheered each other on. Everyone was singing together. Having the opportunity to perform. Saying prayers
What new knowledge have you gained from this experience? We learned a new story from the Bible: the poor person gave everything they had and a rich person gave money, but the poor person gave everything they had so she gave the most. Jesus wants people to help others and respect them. Spending money when you are rich doesn’t matter but when you show kindness like Jesus and give everything you have that is what matters.
What will you tell others about the visit? I had a fun time. I enjoyed the festival. I was nervous but still performed and did my best. It was very good. I had a good time
Which careers/jobs did you see? Priest, Construction workers and Carers (on the walk to the church), Teachers, Volunteers
What skills/qualities would you need to do that career/job?Strong, Patience, Respectful, Brave, Responsible, Kind, Helpful, Grateful
Rowling Class: Thoughts on Restart a Heart Day:
Summary of what you did : We learnt how to do CPR, what to do if someone is chocking and how to use a defibrillator.
What did you like about the visit?: Everyone got to try CPR on the bodies. Learning how to save people who are choking. We liked learning the difference between CPR on adults and babies.
What new knowledge have you gained from this experience? We would now know how to respond if we saw someone not breathing or choking. Help people when they are dying.
What will you tell others about the visit? It was fun, and we could pass on the information to others. We got to meet real nurses and try CPR on the dummies.
Which careers/jobs did you see? Nurses, Paramedics, Doctors, Teachers.
What skills/qualities would you need to do that career/job? Helpful, clear communication, patience, kindness, working as part of a team, good listening, bravery, calm.
Rowling Class: Thoughts on Harvest Festival Celebration:
Summary of what you did : Sang different Harvest songs. Listened to other people sing. Walked to the church. Listened to prayers. Watched a reenactment of a story from the Bible.
What did you like about the visit?: Singing. Walking to the church with friends. Having parents/carers watch us. Reflecting in the church. Having a chance to ‘show off’. Liked watching other classes. Liked watching the different actions. Liked watching siblings.
What new knowledge have you gained from this experience? The story from the Bible. Harvest isn’t just about singing. The meaning of harvest. That we can trust God. To be thankful for what we have.
What will you tell others about the visit? You get to learn different songs. It is a really good experience to see the church. You all get a turn of singing. You might get to see family members on the trip.
Which careers/jobs did you see? Priest. Teachers. Teaching Assistant. .Headteacher/Deputy Heads.
What skills/qualities would you need to do that career/job? Priest – good public speaking, good reading/word knowledge, be religious, know the Bible, kind, put God first, good planning skills
