USEFUL INFO...

Thank you to our Year 1 Parents and Carers!

Now that we are half way through the school year, we would like to extend our sincere thanks for your support and contributions towards the many wonderful experiences our Year 1 children have benefited from this year so far. We know that enriching experiences in primary school play a vital role in inspiring curiosity, broadening horizons, and nurturing essential skills, helping children make meaningful connections between their learning and potential future careers.

From school visits to visitors and workshops, your involvement has helped create lasting memories and valuable learning opportunities for our children. The children have enjoyed a range of enriching experiences including a visit to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust in Washington, and to Shildon Locomotion Museum, workshops with Adam Bushnell (our local author and storyteller), Peter Pan Pantomime at East Durham College, Chartwell’s Food and Five Senses workshop, a walk around Coxhoe to see what we have in our village and Dogs Trust workshops. Your support has made these enriching experiences possible and have been invaluable in broadening our children’s learning. Take a look at our class webpages to see how much our children enjoy these experiences

We truly appreciate your time, generosity, and encouragement. Thank you for being such an integral part of our school family! With your continued support we look forward to the experiences we have planned for our children during the rest of this school year.

English - We acted out some scenes in the story where Beegu comes across a tree, some leaves and some rabbits. We had to use our facial expressions and body language to show how Beegu tries to mimic them and becomes frustrated because they do not understand her.

In our music lesson this week we practised some actions to go along with Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. We are really getting in the Christmas spirit!

In PE this week we started Unit 2 of gymnastics. We learnt how to move on and off the apparatus using the 'Magic Chair' landing. We made sure to keep our balance and landed safely on two feet each time we jumped off the bench!

Active maths - We have continued to consolidate our learning of part whole models. We had different actions linked to the missing number such as star jumps, jogging on the spot, press ups and high knees!
