Rosen Class: Thoughts on their Technology Walk
Summary of what you did: Went for a short walk around Coxhoe to look for technology linked to computing.
What did you like about the visit: ‘I liked finding things like the box that holds books.’ 'I liked seeing different cars.’ 'I liked seeing the sweet shop.’
What new knowledge have you gained from this trip? ‘lots of cameras.’ ‘there were satellite dishes.’ ‘aerials on houses.’ ‘there were smart doorbells that ring to your phone.’ ‘Lots of cars.’ We saw a bus.’
What will you tell others about the trip? 'I passed my park.’ ‘I passed my grandma’s’ 'Technology helps people in Coxhoe.’
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Doctors, Hairdressers/barbers, Opticians, shop keepers, travel agents, teacher
What skills/qualities would you need to do that career/job? You need to be trained to be a doctor/hair dresser/optician
Rosen Class: Thoughts on Harvest Festival celebration
Summary of what you did: We went up to the church for our Harvest Festival performance. We performed a song to an audience. We also listened to the service.
What did you like about the visit? Singing, Seeing parents, Watching the performances, Listening to the music, Performing
What new knoweldge have you gained from this trip? We were being thankful for the food. It was about Christianity and God
What will you tell others about the trip? It is fun
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Vicar, Teachers
What skills/qualities would you need to tdo that career/job? You need to be religious or an interest in religion, confident.
Hargreaves Class: Thoughts on Harvest Festival celebration
Summary of what you did: We went to sing our Harvest Song Big Red Combine Harvester. This in front of our families. We listened to other classes sing.
What did you like about the visit? We were sat at the front. Lots of things to see about Christianity. All the songs were amazing. Liked singing the Harvest Samba.
What new knoweldge have you gained from this trip? We heard lots of new songs. We learnt that the fruit grows on the bushes and trees.
What will you tell others about the trip? Mr Mason told a story about Jesus and a rich lady and a poor lady. Jesus said that he wanted us to give everything we could.
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Being a vicar.
What skills/qualities would you need to tdo that career/job? Need to know all about God, and to be able to read the Bible. You woould need to be brave and confident.
Hargreaves Class: Thoughts on their visit to Washington Wetlands Centre
Summary of what you did: We did some pond dipping and minibeast hunting. On the afternoon, we did some bird spotting and played at the playground.
What did you like about the visit? I liked seeing the otters and the flamingos. There were lots of ducks too.
What new knoweldge have you gained from this trip? Where different minibeasts live and that there are lots of creatures that live in a pond.
What will you tell others about the trip? It is very fun and you get to play on the playground.
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Keeper, centre manager
What skills/qualities would you need to tdo that career/job? Knowledge of different animals, Confidence, Patience
Rosen Class: Thoughts on their visit to Washington Wetlands Centre
Summary of what you did: We went on a minibeast hunt, we did pond dipping, we saw the feeding otters and flamingos. We got to feel a flamingo egg.
What did you like about the visit? Watching the flamingos being fed. Going to the playground. I liked going mini beast hunting. Holding the flamingo egg. Watching the otters get fed.
What new knoweldge have you gained from this trip? Flamingos lay bigger eggs than chickens. Otters eat fish. The biggest UK bird is a crane!
What will you tell others about the trip? Seeing the flamingos is fun. I liked it. I liked being there because we did pond dipping. The otters were cute.
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Volunteers, Animal workers, Visit leaders, shop keeps, cafe worker, caretakers
What skills/qualities would you need to tdo that career/job? You have to like animals, know about nature, understand the seasons, how to care for the environment.
In PE we have been adding rolls into our gymnastics sequence.
