Rosen Class: Thoughts on Adam Bushnell
Summary of what you did: Adam came and visited us. He focused on the story 'clean up’ and we created our own story.
What did you like about the visitor? Holding the tortoise. Making the story. Drawing the pictures for our story. Doing the actions of being at the beach. Dressing up as a sea monster.
What new knowledge have you gained from this visitor? Don’t throw rubbish into the sea. Don’t litter. How to create a sea monster.
What will you tell others about the visitor? It was very interesting. I liked stroking the tortoise. It was really fun.
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Author, illustrator, volunteers (cleaning up the beach)
What skills/qualities would you need to do that career/job? Organisation, writing, pencil control, fine motor skills
Hargreaves Class: Thoughts on our Coxhoe Village geography walk
Summary of what you did: Went on a walk to do fieldwork for geography
What did you like about the visit? I liked that we got to be in pairs. That we had fun tasks to complete.
What new knowledge have you gained from this visit? There are lots of cars that drive through Coxhoe but no motorbikes.
What will you tell others about the visit? I would tell Reception that it was fun and you get to wave at people as you walk past.
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Hairdressers, Bus driver, Shopkeeper, Butcher, Fast food worker, Builders
What skills/qualities would you need to do that career/job? Fine motor skills, Learn to drive, Respectful to customers

What did you like about the visitor? He brought his tortoise and that we could stroke him. Creating our own story based on clean up.
What new knowledge have you gained from this visitor? That sometimes tortoise can crawl faster than we thought.
What will you tell others about the visitor? Tell them about Jet the tortoise. Adam is funny and made us laugh.

Hargreaves Class: Thoughts on our visit to Shildon Railway Museum
Summary of what you did: We looked at lots of different steam trains. We also did a workshop about Timothy Hackworth and George Stephenson.
What did you like about the visit? That we got to go inside of a steam train and sit on the driver's chair. That we got to look at a royal steam train and what furniture was in it.
What new knowledge have you gained from this visit? How they built the steam trains. The red parts in the train controlled the whistles. That a fireman sat in the front of the train with the driver. It gets really hot inside the front of the train.
What will you tell others about the visit? There are lots of trains and they are really nice. You will learn about different trains and what they were used for.
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Mechanic on the train, Speaker – Has to have a good knowledge of trains.
What skills/qualities would you need to do that career/job? Know lots of facts
Hargreaves Class: Thoughts on our pantomime visit
Summary of what you did: We watched the show ‘Dick Whittington’.
What did you like about the visit? That it was funny. The outfits that the cast members wore. I liked the whole show.
What new knowledge have you gained from this visit? The performers might be nervous when they are performing.
What will you tell others about the visit? It is fun to watch. You get to high five each cast member when you leave.
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Performer, Stage-hand
What skills/qualities would you need to do that career/job? Strong, time organisation, Singing, Confidence and be brave.
Rosen Class: Thoughts on our visit to Shildon Railway Museum
Summary of what you did: We went to the Locomotion museum and learnt more about the North East Railway and Timothy Hackworth.
What did you like about the visit? I liked looking at all of the trains. I liked going inside the train and listening to the whistle. I liked the play area
What new knowledge have you gained from this visit? That one train used porridge to help control the temperature. I learnt more about locomotives
What will you tell others about the visit? There was a competition to make the best train.
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Tour guide, Engineer
What skills/qualities would you need to do that career/job? Know lots of facts

Summary of what you did: Went on a walk to do fieldwork for geography
What did you like about the visit? I liked working in pairs. We liked looking at the different human features
What new knowledge have you gained from this visit? There are lots of restaurants in Coxhoe. There is a lot of hairdressers in the village
What will you tell others about the visit? We went on an amazing walk. I would recommend it because it was fun

Rosen Class: Thoughts on their Technology Walk
Summary of what you did: Went for a short walk around Coxhoe to look for technology linked to computing.
What did you like about the visit: ‘I liked finding things like the box that holds books.’ 'I liked seeing different cars.’ 'I liked seeing the sweet shop.’
What new knowledge have you gained from this trip? ‘lots of cameras.’ ‘there were satellite dishes.’ ‘aerials on houses.’ ‘there were smart doorbells that ring to your phone.’ ‘Lots of cars.’ We saw a bus.’
What will you tell others about the trip? 'I passed my park.’ ‘I passed my grandma’s’ 'Technology helps people in Coxhoe.’
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Doctors, Hairdressers/barbers, Opticians, shop keepers, travel agents, teacher
What skills/qualities would you need to do that career/job? You need to be trained to be a doctor/hair dresser/optician
Rosen Class: Thoughts on Harvest Festival celebration
Summary of what you did: We went up to the church for our Harvest Festival performance. We performed a song to an audience. We also listened to the service.
What did you like about the visit? Singing, Seeing parents, Watching the performances, Listening to the music, Performing
What new knoweldge have you gained from this trip? We were being thankful for the food. It was about Christianity and God
What will you tell others about the trip? It is fun
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Vicar, Teachers
What skills/qualities would you need to tdo that career/job? You need to be religious or an interest in religion, confident.
Hargreaves Class: Thoughts on Harvest Festival celebration
Summary of what you did: We went to sing our Harvest Song Big Red Combine Harvester. This in front of our families. We listened to other classes sing.
What did you like about the visit? We were sat at the front. Lots of things to see about Christianity. All the songs were amazing. Liked singing the Harvest Samba.
What new knoweldge have you gained from this trip? We heard lots of new songs. We learnt that the fruit grows on the bushes and trees.
What will you tell others about the trip? Mr Mason told a story about Jesus and a rich lady and a poor lady. Jesus said that he wanted us to give everything we could.
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Being a vicar.
What skills/qualities would you need to tdo that career/job? Need to know all about God, and to be able to read the Bible. You woould need to be brave and confident.
Hargreaves Class: Thoughts on Chartwells DT workshop
Summary of what you did: We looked at different activities based on our 5 senses.
What did you like about the visit? When we had to guess what was in the bag. When we had to taste the food.
What new knoweldge have you gained from this visitor? We learnt about the taste of different types of food such as spinach, lemon, cracker and raspberries.
What will you tell others about the trip? That it is fun and nice to taste new things.
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Chef, Baker, Nutritionist
What skills/qualities would you need to tdo that career/job? Knowledge of different types of food, Organisation skills
Hargreaves Class: Thoughts on their visit to Washington Wetlands Centre
Summary of what you did: We did some pond dipping and minibeast hunting. On the afternoon, we did some bird spotting and played at the playground.
What did you like about the visit? I liked seeing the otters and the flamingos. There were lots of ducks too.
What new knoweldge have you gained from this trip? Where different minibeasts live and that there are lots of creatures that live in a pond.
What will you tell others about the trip? It is very fun and you get to play on the playground.
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Keeper, centre manager
What skills/qualities would you need to tdo that career/job? Knowledge of different animals, Confidence, Patience
Rosen Class: Thoughts on Chartwells DT workshop
Summary of what you did: We looked at different activities based on our 5 senses.
What did you like about the visit? When we had to guess what was in the bag. Eating and tasting different foods.
What new knoweldge have you gained from this visitor? What a kiwi feels like. Trying new foods we’ve never had before.
What will you tell others about the trip? I liked the food I tasted. It was fun.
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Chef, Baker, Nutritionist
What skills/qualities would you need to tdo that career/job? Knowledge of different types of food, Organisation skills
Rosen Class: Thoughts on their visit to Washington Wetlands Centre
Summary of what you did: We went on a minibeast hunt, we did pond dipping, we saw the feeding otters and flamingos. We got to feel a flamingo egg.
What did you like about the visit? Watching the flamingos being fed. Going to the playground. I liked going mini beast hunting. Holding the flamingo egg. Watching the otters get fed.
What new knoweldge have you gained from this trip? Flamingos lay bigger eggs than chickens. Otters eat fish. The biggest UK bird is a crane!
What will you tell others about the trip? Seeing the flamingos is fun. I liked it. I liked being there because we did pond dipping. The otters were cute.
Which careers/jobs did you see on the visit? Volunteers, Animal workers, Visit leaders, shop keeps, cafe worker, caretakers
What skills/qualities would you need to tdo that career/job? You have to like animals, know about nature, understand the seasons, how to care for the environment.
In PE we have been adding rolls into our gymnastics sequence.
